Already got one. They are good fun. I have a portable spare with a magnetic antenna that I let people borrow if we are convoy road tripping. plus they usually have a Public Address out port which, if you're like me, you will take advantage of.

I was looking into getting a portable on for this weekend's road trip, but it seems they're nowhere powerful enough to be useful/fun. Not unless I'm using it in a big city.

Though, I guess I could just get a magnetic antenna.

Yeah the range is shorter than what most people think. On flat open country I can get about 4 miles of range. hills really lower the range. Depends on what kinda driving you want to do with it really.

I use it much more for my PA system than for actually communicating with cars.
